Inexpensive Baby Shower Gift Ideas

by Maas Roelvink

If you have an upcoming baby shower to attend, buying the perfect gift for the new arrival is probably at the top of your to-do list. You're in luck because there are plenty of things that are both cute and useful from which to choose.

You don't have to spend a lot of money to let the mom-to-be know that you are thinking of her. If you're on a tight budget, pick a smaller item, such as a blanket from the gift registry, or combine a few cheaper things to create a customized present. You can design a gift basket with two or three inexpensive, but essential, items.

There's no rule that says that you have to choose things just from the gift registry, either. Feel free to come up with your own ideas, keeping the expecting mom's preferred fabrics, designs, and colors in mind if you know them. You can even go with meaningful pieces, such as decor, that you find at an antique or thrift shop.

Another guideline that comes in handy when choosing the perfect baby gift is the nursery theme. To save more money, forego any monogramming or personalization.

Here are some additional inexpensive baby shower gift ideas:

1. Swaddling Blankets

Swaddling blankets help babies sleep at night and during naptime by keeping them warm and cozy. The blankets are affordable and are available in a wide range of colors and patterns, such as princess and zoo animal themes. Even better, choose blankets that are made of soft cotton muslin that come in a variety pack.

The blankets are easily washable, and can also be used for cleaning up any messes or to provide privacy while nursing outside your home. They also provide a clean, protective barrier on public diaper changing tables.

2. Playtime Items

Toys and other items that the baby can enjoy during playtime make fun gifts. As one idea, create a small gift basket filled with rattles, chew toys, and soft balls, which the infant can reach for during tummy time. Pick brightly colored and textured items that will capture the baby's attention.

Board books featuring vibrant colors and patterns, as well as pieces that make noise, will help keep the baby entertained, or even put it to sleep. Other playful gift options include soft ankle and wrist rattles, stuffed animals,  eye-catching crib mobiles that play music, play mats with dangling items, and plastic keys that the baby can safely chew on.

About Me

Investing In High-End Accessories

After burning through several pairs of cheap earrings, I decided one day that it might be in my best interest to look into buying some better pieces. Instead of visiting little accessory shops, I started saving my money and frequenting high-end jewelry stores. I quickly realized that by investing more money into jewelry, the items would last significantly longer and look a lot better when I wore them. It was amazing to see how much better I looked with the better items. This blog is all about investing in better accessories so that you can take better pictures or enjoy a renewed sense of self.
